Draw cards and build your score.
You may HIT (Enter), STAND (Shift), or PASS (Space).
Drawing the same card twice causes a BUST.
Each round awards points based on the cards you collected.
Once any player reaches 500 points, the game ends.
The player with the highest score wins.
Play single player to get on the leaderboard!
Just like a real deck of cards, every time a card is drawn, its probability of appearing again decreases.
Shuffling completely resets the deck and restores original odds.
HIT: Draws a new card from the deck and adds it to your current hand.
STAND: Locks in your hand, ending your actions for the round.
PASS: Skips your turn without hitting or standing, passing the action to the next player.
You may only pass if you have successfully drawn at least one card during your current turn.
Points are accumulated through three distinct mechanics:
1. Card Value: Points awarded based on your collected cards, where lower value cards yield higher points and higher cards yield fewer points.
2. Draw Bonus: A bonus based on the length of your hand.
Your active bonus and projected bonus for your next draw are displayed beneath your totals.
3. Crown Bonus: A bonus awarded to the player(s) holding the single highest card on the table.
Note: Busted hands score zero points.
Single-player mode is straightforward: hit until you are ready to stand.
While every card contributes to your base score, the majority of your points stem from scaling draw bonuses.
As a general rule, lean toward hitting when your hand consists mostly of high cards, and stand early if you accumulate lower cards.
About the game: You can expect low cards to appear a lot more frequently than high cards (1 is the most common, then 2 etc.). As cards get pulled, the probability of seeing that card again decreases, just like a real deck of cards! The deck is "shuffled" every so often which resets all of the probabilities to the initial state.
Since low cards give you a higher risk of busting, they are worth more points than high cards. Although each card gives you points directly, most of your points come from the "draw bonus". The more cards you draw in a single hand, the more points you get from the draw bonus.
We've fine tuned the probabilities and draw bonus to make the expected value of hitting or standing virtually the same. The only way to get an edge in this game is to keep track of all the cards in your hand or, if you're really good, keep track of all the cards that have been played in your opponents hands.
There is one final way of earning points and that is through the high card bonus. Since excessively large numbers give the player so few points, we implemented a high card bonus to reward players for drawing numbers like 1,000. At the end of each round, the high card bonus is paid to the player with the highest card on the table. The bonus depends on how big the card is.
Remember, busted hands give the player 0 points.
Ways to play: We offer 4 player, 2 player, and single player versions of the game. In multiplayer games, you'll be matched with random people online (you can also play in private rooms with your friends). If we cannot find any players, we'll populate the game with bots. The bots have a pretty basic strategy so don't worry about getting destroyed by them if you're new to the game.
We offer a daily and all time leaderboard that keeps track of the most points achieved in a single hand as well as the highest card drawn. To get on the leaderboard you must be playing single player.
Notes about development: We are two graduate students studying mathematics. We found the math behind this game very interesting and we hope players do too. We created this game on a budget of $0. We are new to game development so we'd greatly appreciate any feedback about either the game engine itself, or the UI. We intend to listen to our players to make our game a better experience.
